Kieft & Sons Ltd is one of the oldest bulb companies in existence.
It was established in 1860 near the Dutch town of Limmen.
The U. K. arm of the company was founded in 1933 with sales and packing facilities near the town of Tonbridge Wells.
The company moved to Norwich in 1971 with packing facilities on the airport trading estate. With continued expansion the company outgrew existing premises and a 16-acre green-field site was purchased at Reepham Road, Horsford, Norwich and Phase 1 (some 30,000-sq. ft.) of a custom built office/pack-house complex began. This was completed February 1994.
The new facilities include the latest fully automatic packing machines making Kieft & Sons the most modern flower bulb company in the U. K.
March 1995 saw Phase 2 begin, the addition of the 2nd packing/storage building, a further 20,000 sq. ft.
In 2002 we see the construction of a third building for packing/storage, complete with loading dock. This has brought our total packing/storage area to over 100,000 Sq. ft.
April 1998 saw the addition of an automatic weighing/packing machine for those customers who want daffodil bulbs packed by weight.
We are one of the few U. K. Bulb companies to have “On the Wall Drying System." This facility allows us to blow/suck air through our bulbs (mainly daffodils) to reduce - a) temperature and - b) moisture content.
SITE - We have a 16-acre site of which we have developed less than ¼, therefore we have plenty of room for further expansion.
